Below are various sponsored scholarships offered each year by the School of Music for Music Majors. These scholarships are awarded as part of the audition process.

Marijane Adams E.L. & William Endowment
Awarded to full-time Music Majors, instrumentalists preferred, with a minimum of 6 units and GPA of 2.5 or above.
Stella Berboth Scholarship Endowment
Awarded to a deserving full-time Music Major in the School of Music and Dance.
Beverly Arnerich Compton Endowment
Awarded to full-time Music Majors with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Betty Barbour Dexter
Full tuition awarded to full-time Music Majors, preferably a gifted cellist of exceptional professional promise.
Cristina Estabrook Endowment
To provide a scholarship to a piano student with outstanding pianistic ability and/or interest in choral accompaniment.
Vernon Read Music Endowment
To provide a scholarship to a deserving wind student in the School of Music.
Jeanne Garson Memorial Scholarship Endowment
Awarded to full-time Music Majors, preferably graduate voice majors in the School of Music.
Lauren Jakey Music Endowment
To provide a scholarship to a deserving strings student in the School of Music.
H. Brent and Barbara Heisinger Endowment
Awarded to full-time Music Majors as a general scholarship awarded to one or more students.
Antoinette Broyles Opera Workshop Scholarship Fund
To provide a scholarship to an upper division or graduate student who is majoring in vocal music and is pursuing a career in opera.
George Lynch Endowment
Awarded to full-time a Music Major who is a trombone major — or, if not available, to a qualified string bass major.
Music Scholarship Endowment
To provide scholarships to students majoring in music with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
Music Joy Fund Endowment
The purpose of this fund is to support the presence of classical music in public schools. The School of Music shall specify the use of the funds annually according to the guidelines provided by the donor.
Charlene Archibeque Choral Endowment
To provide scholarships to a deserving choral student in the School of Music.
Margaret and Jim Jimenez Music Scholarship Fund
To provide scholarships to music students in the School of Music.
Dwight Cannon Jazz Studies Endowment
To provide scholarships for deserving jazz students majoring in Jazz Studies.
String Instruments Scholarship Endowment
To provide scholarships for String Instrument students
Irene Dalis Opera Endowment
To provide scholarships for deserving full-time students studying opera at SJSU.
Lois King Thore Music Scholarship Endowment
Awarded to deserving Music Majors, at least half time or fully matriculated; graduate or undergraduate.
Alma Kreiss Burch Memorial Scholarship Endowment
To provide scholarships for students majoring in Music Education
Notia W. Smith Music Scholarship
To provide scholarships for full-time graduate and undergraduate students majoring in Music
Claude E. and Alberta D. Walker Endowment
Awarded to full-time students majoring in keyboard studies — restricted to graduate and upper-division (junior and senior) undergraduate majors.
Garon Bolden Scholarship in Music Education
To provide scholarships to students majoring in Music Education.
Gibson Walters Endowment
Awarded to full-time Freshmen or transfer Music Majors demonstrating advanced skills in violin and/or viola with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Catherine F. George Fund for Instrumental Music
To support the Instrumental Music Program at SJSU.
The Gus and Lois Lease Endowment
To support scholarships for students majoring in any of the Music undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
Joseph Frank Opera Excellence Endowment
To support the Opera Theater program at SJSU.
William C. McGee Music Scholarship Endowment
To provide scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students studying instrumental or choral music.
Barbara Welch-Bateman Music Scholarship Endowment
