LCOE Student Success Center Services
Advising Services Structure
As a Lurie College of Education (LCOE) student, both lower-division and upper-division
advising are provided within the LCOE Student Success Center (SSC).
Lower Division Students (0–59 units)
Students will work with a Student Academic Success Specialist (SASS) for support with
lower-division coursework and academic planning.
Upper Division Students (60+ units)
Students will work with an Upper-Division Advisor for assistance with major coursework,
program requirements, and graduation planning.
Note: Graduate students seeking advising assistance should contact their home department, as departments are best suited to provide graduate-level advising.
The Student Success Center (SSC) in the Lurie College of Education (LCOE) provides services online or by phone to students who are majoring in, or interested in majoring in, programs offered within LCOE departments and schools.
Services include:
- Academic advising
- Major-related questions and course substitution guidance
- Information on SJSU academic policies and procedures
- Development of 2-year and 4-year graduation plans
- Change of major assistance (into & within LCOE)
- Support with the graduation application process
- Guidance regarding academic notice, disqualification, and reinstatement
- Assistance navigating MySJSU and the MyGPS advising tools
- Information about Learning Campus resources
